Songs written or co-written by John Hahn include: Beat up Guitar, Somebody Else's Jesus, Sounds Like the Devil. About half of Shemekia Copeland's songs were written by John Hahn.

Four songs written by John Hahn, Turn the Heat Up, Who Stole My Radio? Never Going Back to Memphis and Ain't Gonna Be Your Tattoo have all been nominated for Blues Music Awards as Song of the Year.

His songs have appeared in concerts from the Chicago Blues Festival to Paris to Brazil and Bombay, movies, on television shows ranging from David Letterman and Conan O'Brien to So You Think You Can Dance.

In 2012, one of John's songs , BEAT UP GUITAR, was performed by Shemekia at The White House for President and Mrs. Obama.

Some of his writing partners have included Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Steve Cropper and Dr. John.

A few of the artists who have performed on John's songs beside Shemekia include B.B.King, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Son Seals and Ruth Brown.

John's songs have appeared on three Grammy nominated albums.
